The proposed changes to the harbour plans bring the prospect that the Greystones marina will be completed and available from late 2011 or early 2012.
The proposed changes to the plan for the Greystones harbour and Marina Development, which will see the public facilities phase up and running next year have been welcomed by Greystones Sailing Club. Many members anticipate moving their cruisers to Greystones in 2011 where keelboat racing and cruising will be run from the Club when the marina and moorings are in place.
SISK Lagan, the joint venture company who have worked on the sea-side of the development, have accommodated harbour users throughout construction, ensuring club run water-based activities have continued apace behind the hoarding. Strict safety protocol is in place to guarantee the ongoing safety of club members and construction workers alike. This has allowed Greystones Sailing Club to continue to thrive above all expectations to a point where additional pen space has been required to accommodate the members’ 120+ dinghies.
Like other aspects of the plans, the fitting out of the new marina development is dependent on there being sufficient interest to generate reasonable income for the operator. To make the best possible case to WCC/Sispar (developers) about the numbers of local boats that it should accommodate, we will be presenting information about current and potential boat owners to WCC/SISPAR.
We would like to find out how many people would like to make use of the marina. In particular, we need to present details of the sizes of boats and the usage that is expected.
To help WCC/SISPAR plan for the right mix of berth spaces, it is important that they have some idea of the likely demand. If you or someone you know, expect to make use of the marina, please complete the following questionaire. It should only take you two minutes to complete.
Please Note: The more expressions of interest, the more likely SISPAR will go ahead with pontoons etc.
Registering an expression of interest is not a binding a commitment"
