Flood Tide
- Direction & Timing:
- Turns NNE 30 mins before Low Water..
- Velocity:
- 3 ktns offshore (1 mile)
- 1.5 ktns along the shoreline.
Ebb Tide
- Direction & Timing:
- Turns SSW 1hr 30mins before high tide offshore (½ mile+)
- Turns SSW 2hr 30mins before high tide inshore
- Velocity:
- 3ktns offshore
- 1.5ktns inshore.
Note: 2.5 hrs to 1.5 hrs before HW the tide will run North offshore and South inshore. This is a unique anomaly to Greystones due to Bray Head, and valuable racing knowledge for visitors.
Immediate Harbour Entrance Flows
- Harbour Entrance: The entrance faces Northeast. Inside the breakwaters, the water is largely sheltered from the primary coastal "race."
- Moulditch Bank: Hazard Zone: 1.2 miles SE. Always leave the Red Port Hand Buoy to your west if passing at speed.
- Outer Basin: Significant silting occurs; stay within the marked channels which generally maintain a depth of ~5m.
